Digging up main street - closed all day.
Moral high ground - more hole than clay.
A lonely figure - din and boom
lost inside a head - old familiar tunes.
Keep your distance - don’t engage.
Resistance futile - all the rage.
Sweet things you steal as some kind of joke
have a habit of sticking in the throat.
Wrapped tight - harshest night of the year.
Eye to eye - blatant lies - more faith than fear.
Whistle blowers whistling in the wind.
Foundations on floodplains fail in the end.
Not war buddies - not best mates.
Wandering in wilderness - I can’t wait.
Such a tricky smile - misaligned
and always from behind.
Why do you keep running away
hiding your identity?
Sour mouth words - no sympathy.
You should hear what’s said to me.
Mind gaps, fall through cracks, stones unturned.
Teachers ignore lessons they should learn.
Not in this life - not the next one.
Sometime you’ll face what you’ve become.
Steamed up mirror - your hot air.
Bad hangover - sobering despair.
A sickening thought - lost what you need
and I believe one of them’s me.
Keep digging deeper holes.
Pride comes before big falls.
Hindsight means you’re too late.
Your nightmare unbolted the gate.
Your nightmare unbolted the gate.
Why do you keep running away?

Forward Now
03:26
|

Forward now
in too deep that’s my problem
I can’t wait.
Never mind it’s all right
I cross a bridge when I come to it.
I don’t suppose you would like to come out with me too?
No? I thought so.
Is this your boyfriend?
Pleased to meet you…
Just quit - you’ve done it again
you fool - what can you do to make amends?
Can we just be friends then?
I’ve said too much.
I’ve had too much to drink so please excuse me.
I’ve said too much and I think I should be leaving
you.
You’ll be in my dreams tonight
and in my dreams,
in my dreams I will love you.
Now and then, when I think,
which isn’t that often
but when
when I do, I think of you…
…I’ve forgotten what I…
what I was saying
but what I am saying is that I am lonely.
Please will you walk home?
Please walk home with me,
I just need a good friend.
You.
You’ll be in my dreams tonight
and in my dreams
in my dreams I will love you.
You.
You’ll be in my dreams tonight
and in my dreams
In my dreams you will love me.
Forward now, in too deep - that’s my problem.

Retro Is Nouveau
03:02
|
|||
Retro is nouveau.
Retro is nouveau.
You can see it everywhere you look.
Everywhere you go it’s new for old stuff
‘cause retro is nouveau.
You can hear it travelling down the years.
All the songs you like are already in your ears
‘cause retro is nouveau.
It’s not cheap – it’s not antique.
Retro is nouveau.
It is chic – not obsolete.
Retro is nouveau.
Retro is nouveau.
Retro is nouveau.
Everything you do’s been done before.
Nothing is original anymore
‘cause retro is nouveau.
Sow what you reap - we’re not sheep.
Retro is nouveau.
Hide and seek – finders keep.
Retro is nouveau.
Retro is nouveau.
Retro is nouveau.
Retro is nouveau.
Retro is nouveau.

Ego Testicle
02:13
|
|||
With their heads in their hands they’re looking glum.
It doesn’t mean anything to anyone
but themselves - it’s just a bit of fun.
Such a high number looking after number one.
They’re so ego testicle.
Money, money, money makes their worlds go round.
High risk bliss, fists full of pounds
but what goes up must come back down
and when the pennies drop they don’t make a sound.
They’re so ego testicle.
As each evening falls the dark descends,
the banter ends, the doubts extend.
Sleep comes slow and doesn’t mend
the broken voices, the words that bend.
They’re so ego testicle.
Testosterone highs and all time lows.
Fist pumping, tubby-thumping body blows.
A well turned look that tells and shows
confidence dying as it grows.
They’re so ego testicle.
As each morning comes it yawns on them,
it bores through them, it dawns on them
they’ll never ever be those men again
and they weren’t the men they thought they were and then
they’re so ego testicle.
With their heads in their hands they’re looking glum.

Lessons In Love
03:21
|
|||
It’s the death of the answer, the birth of the question,
it’s time for your lesson in love.
Nothing is certain, facts all a-quiver,
it’s time to see if you’re a winner in love.
Lessons in love – you get back what you give.
Lessons in love – on a two-way street you live.
Lessons in love – in a house that’s built to share
and if you’re lucky that is where you’ll learn your lessons in love.
Lessons in love should really be the easiest lessons
but lessons in love can sometimes be the hardest lessons to learn.
The hardest lessons to learn.
When you’ve lost all reason and you’re looking for something
and all you’re finding is nothing – it’s a lesson in love.
When you’re dying of hunger and you’re living through danger
and you find yourself a stranger – it’s a lesson in love.
Lessons in love – just count one to three.
Lessons in love – just read A,B,C.
Lessons in love – see if you can be
the one you want to be through lessons in love.
Lessons in love should really be the easiest lessons
but lessons in love can sometimes be the hardest lessons to learn.
The hardest lessons to learn.
It’s the death of the answer, the birth of the question,
it’s time for your lesson in love.

Hi there sunshine...
...Bye bye rain!

The Weather
03:14
|
|||
The weather, the weather, the weather, the weather,
no wonder we’re always talking ‘bout the weather.
The whether or not, the whether to change,
cancel altogether or rearrange.
What to wear, how to be prepared for all eventualities,
the weather doesn’t care
but you wouldn’t want to be without it.
No you wouldn’t want to be without it.
And then the rain comes down
and it’s falling from the sky
and it’s wetting all the ground
and I don’t know why
and I feel so upset
that I think I’m going to cry
and then the sun comes out
and the rain starts to dry.
It’s a metaphor for life - we’re all under the weather.
We’ll go dancing in the rain in the altogether.
Rinse, dry, repeat, rinse, dry, repeat, rinse, dry, repeat, rinse, dry, repeat
until the clouds have parted and the sun has started to show its face again.
No you wouldn’t want to be without it.
No you wouldn’t want to be without it.
But then the rain comes down
and it’s falling from the sky
and it’s wetting all the ground
and I don’t know why
and I feel so upset
that I think I’m going to cry
and then the sun comes out
and the rain starts to dry.
When the temperature soars we all long for long sleeps
under cool sheets with ice packs for pillows.
When the temperature drops we all moan a lot
about how it’s on the turn - our fading sun burns
a little less bright in the shadows.
But there’s always tomorrow.
There’s always tomorrow.
There’s always tomorrow.
The weather, the weather, the weather, the weather,
no wonder we’re always talking ‘bout the weather.
The whether or not, the whether to change,
cancel altogether or rearrange.
When the temperature soars we all head off indoors,
draw the curtains closed and take off all our clothes.
When the temperature drops we all wish it was hot
as we put on thick coats feeling empty and hollow,
scarves and gloves follow
but there’s no need to wallow cause there’s always tomorrow.
There’s always tomorrow.
There’s always tomorrow
and you wouldn’t want to be without it.
No you wouldn’t want to be without it.

Peggy Luck
03:05
|
|||
Lady Muck lived on the allotment down by the canal.
Raised a bed inside a shed - a little stove as well.
She had always lived this way,
digging deep and turning soil everyday.
An old wooden bench and a dog-eared book - that’s Lady Muck.
Lady Luck - Peggy to her family and her friends as well.
Maybe just a little bit eccentric - but as she’d say, to hell with that.
Who really cares what people think?
You would think that they’d have better things to do.
And as her new potatoes grew - she made them stew.
Once our Peggy’s gone we won’t get her back.
We won’t get her back once our Peggy’s gone.
We will be so sad, we will feel so bad.
Better make the best of what we have.
Peggy Luck loved the thorny problems - brambles, weeds and pests.
Quiet, unholy, never ever lonely, for the worst she knew the best.
She died of natural causes - or so they say,
turning over old leaves - she just fell one day.
Covered in compost and muck - that’s Lady Luck.
And it just goes to show you never really know
what’s waiting around the next corner
but if you play it right then you just might get what you’ve always wanted…
Peggy Luck never made it to the cemetery - though she was badly stricken.
Now she lies over six feet under - how the plot thickens.
She’d always wanted it this way.
Hoped that she’d be left in peace under her own clay.
She’d say - you can lead life just like a book with Lady Luck.
Now look at where she’s gone, we won’t get her back.
We won’t get her back - not from where she’s gone.
Now look at where she’s gone, we won’t get her back.
We won’t get her back - not from where she’s gone.
Now look at where she’s gone, we won’t get her back.
We won’t get her back - not from where she’s gone.
She’s buried underground where she wants to be
and on her stone it says don’t call me Lady - I’m Peggy.

Stuck Let Go
03:06
|
|||
You’re stuck up in your high rise
where concrete meets grey sky.
You need a lift to a lower place,
need to open up your closed eyes.
I’ve got a ticket to ride, we’ve got tickets to ride,
they’ve got tickets to ride, you’ve got a ticket to ride
So let go, let go, let go, let go,
let go, let go, let go, let go,
let go, let go, let go, let go.
Let’s go!
You take the moral high-ground,
I’ll meet you later down the underground.
You sit around and confuse yourself,
I’m going for a walk around.
You’re all stuck up inside looking like someone just died.
Your tears and excuses ran dry, you’ve got a ticket to ride.
So let go, let go, let go, let go,
let go, let go, let go, let go,
let go, let go, let go, let go.
Let’s go!
You’ve too much time on your hands
tied to ideas and plans
got from TV and radio,
not even listening in stereo.
You’re monotone and you’re drab,
full of obsessions and fads
and all your jokes are quite sad.
It’s time you loosened up a bit,
took your cold heart out the fridge.
You’ve made your point now it’s time to move.
Stick it to yourself, unglue your shoes.
You’ve got no reason to cry, no reason to keep asking why.
Let your self be your guide, cause you’ve got a ticket to ride.
So let go, let go, let go, let go,
let go, let go, let go, let go,
let go, let go, let go, let go.
Let’s go!

Beach Cleaners
02:39
|
|||
We’re walking through the sea spray,
finding little rainbows
and brightly coloured plastic
is getting inbetween our toes.
We’re blowing up a sand storm
kicking pebbles and shells
and brightly coloured plastic
is everywhere we go.
And it goes to show how far it flows
when we throw away our harmless little trinkets.
You wouldn’t really think it.
We’re playing with the seagulls,
they’re screeching ‘cause they know
the brightly coloured plastic
ain’t as bright as it glows.
The colours are fantastic
but the damage is drastic
and this brightly coloured plastic
is getting up our nose.
And it goes to show how long it lasts.
Some of these brightly coloured things
have come a long way from the past.
So when you cast away your cares and woes,
just think for a minute about where that plastic goes.
We’re walking on the shoreline
thinking how the tide turns,
waiting for a sea change
when one day we might learn.
We’re sitting at the seaside
having lovely daydreams,
hoping for a future
where this beach stays clean.

Doctor Lollipop
03:09
|
|||
Here he comes taking life in his hands.
Here comes Doctor Lollipop.
Handing out cassettes of bands.
That’s just like Doctor Lollipop.
Stepping out into the traffic flow
with a stop sign that lets children go.
He’s the one they’ve all been waiting for.
Hits and flops and drops and swaps and so much more.
With the mop-heads he just wipes the floor
while behind his eyes he’s keeping music scores.
You can’t keep a good man down, he’s not meant for this town,
he won’t be staying round so make the most of Doctor Lollipop.
Late at night in his coffee cup
he sees his future somewhere else.
No need to talk about it much,
it’s written in the stars and shells
he kicks along the sea-front
as he’s walking to the pier.
He’s not sure how he came here to this
but in a way it is holiday bliss
as he records the sounds of sinking ships
and thinks about a future where he’ll reminisce
about being Doctor Lollipop.
He’s earnt his crust, he’s sung his song,
he knows which side the butter’s on, he won’t be staying long.
Here he comes with flyers in his hands.
Here comes Doctor Lollipop.
Looks to the right but left he stands.
Hear the cheers for Doctor Lollipop.
He spins his disc, the message clear,
you won’t start revolutions here.
It’s only time till he vacates
this bridge too far - they’ll have to wait
to discover
there’s not another
Doctor Lollipop.

Millionth Girlfriend
03:48
|
|||
You always were the one who liked to brag at school
about how you weren’t afraid to break the rules
but it’s obvious you never were the sharpest tool.
No you never really made the cut.
Always boasting about your luck - believing we believed you.
But who’d want to be your millionth girlfriend?
Who’d be the one to make that call?
Who’d want to be your millionth girlfriend?
No one really wants to be your friend at all.
Posing in the mirror you’re a right sight to behold.
Dressed to kill you’re killing us with all the fibs you’ve told.
Not being cool’s not cool but being too cool’s just cold.
No you never really made the grades,
no matter how dark your shades - it’s easy to see through you.
And who’d want to be your millionth girlfriend?
Who’d be the one to take that call?
Who’d want to be your millionth girlfriend?
No one really wants to be your friend at all.
There must have been a time when you might have stood a chance.
A place where someone might have thought about romance.
A look you had worth a second glance.
Now it’s hard to see in any circumstance
who’d want to be your millionth girlfriend?
Who’d be the one to fake that call?
Who’d want to be your millionth girlfriend?
Imaginary friends, imaginary lives,
don’t need much imagination, nor do your blatant lies.
The tangled webs you weave, deceptions you contrive
aren’t clever or funny, disturb the way you see,
make sure no one would ever
want to be your millionth girlfriend?
Who’d be the one to fake that call?
Who’d want to be your millionth girlfriend?
No one really wants to be your friend at all.

Tenterhooks
04:17
|
|||
He met her at a funeral, she looked beautiful in black
sat up at the business end – he was watching from the back.
The after-burn party went on till really late.
They helped each other through it, dead drunk – barely a wake
with nothing left, just life and death on tenter hooks.
You could hear her coming and smell her when she’d gone.
He was left alone but not for very long.
Quick to take the plunge, she was quicker to accept.
Diving in deep the marriage vows were set
with barely a breath – blood and flesh on tenter hooks.
A simple test, a last request – no more tenter hooks.
Another mourning comes to pass, another evening built to last,
another candle with no ends, a timeless watch that never mends.
A future bright, a past so dull – who’d have ever thought that
it could be so wonderful, again.
But to keep the story short, her friends were anti-social
while most of his were pissed-up down the local.
The more they saved together the more they spent apart.
They finished what they’d started then started losing heart
with not much said, from heart to head – back on tenter hooks.
The older you get the better it was, the more you’ve loved the more you’ve lost.
The image cuts and passes on, attached to words that don’t belong
to anyone but they still hang in the space between now and then.
So the dead horse bolted avoiding the flogging.
They shut the stable doors and went back to unstable longings.
When worlds fall apart and everything seems vain
weddings a funerals all start to feel the same.
But there’s still hope – no need for rope… tenter hooks.
A time, a place, someone waits – on tenter hooks.

Looking For Love
02:41
|
|||
I’ve been trying to shed a few pounds
I just didn’t think that it would have to be this way.
I’ve been thinking about going to the gym
I just didn’t think that it would have to be this way.
But I’ve been eating my way through grief
and I can barely get into this dress.
I’m a mess and I confess
I’m looking for love.
And I thank the blinking stars above I’m not the one to blame.
I’d thank the lord above if I could speak his name
but it was you who did the deed
and now I’m ready to take my leave.
I’ve put my heart back on my sleeve
and I’m looking for love.
I’m looking for love.
I’ve been expecting to lose a few pounds
I just didn’t think that it would have to be this way.
Over 2k for a wig and a gown!
I just didn’t think that it would have to be this way.
But you insisted on doing things quick
said it would be cheaper if we did.
So I did - you pig
and now I’m looking for love.
Yes I’m looking for love.
And I thank the blinking stars above I’m not the one to blame.
I’d thank the lord above if I could speak his name
but it was you who did that deed
and now I’m ready to take my leave.
I’ve put my heart back on my sleeve
and I’m looking for love.

Thinking Is Free
04:12
|
|||
The gulls are flying inland - it must rough at sea.
What ever floats your boat or gets you through the night is what you need.
Time to breathe, time to believe
and thinking is free.
And you stay to see
‘cause you want to be
alive to the things that make you want to feel alive when something has died.
Plans are always changing and everything must pass.
Nightmares only come at night, you’ll be alright, your daydreams can last
as long as you hold on
And thinking is free.
Thinking is free.
And you stay to see
‘cause you want to be
alive to the things that make you want to feel alive when something has died.
Waking up and plugging in, pulling back and opening,
pressing play to begin taking charge again.
Walking through the day, taking small steps along the way,
making sure everything’s okay - like you always wanted to.
Churchill’s dog’s a white one, its colours do not bleed.
Storm clouds may still gather round
but that doesn’t mean you have to leave,
don’t despair, the weather is set fair
and thinking is free.
Thinking is free.
And you stay to see
‘cause you want to be
alive to the things that make you want to feel alive,
alive to the things that make you want to feel alive
alive to the things that make you want to feel alive
and thinking is free.
Thinking is free.

Waiting for the happy virus to unfold.
There’s only so much misery that we can hold.
Wash your hands of everything as you’ve been told
and don’t stand so close to me.
Uneasy times don’t ever make for easy friends
with everyone uptight and trying to untie their loose ends.
With every new beginning feeling like another end
don’t stand so close to me.
We’re all sending out grapes and flowers to the world.
We’re all sending out all best wishes to the world.
We’re all sending out grapes and flowers to the world.
We’re all sending out all best wishes to the world.
We’re all sending out love and kisses to the world.

More Birds More Bees
03:01
|
|||
In this ocean of plastic we need a mermaid scholastic,
a mermaid iconoclastic to save the day.
We need a climate game changer, a mermaid lone ranger
to rise from the seas and show us the way.
More birds, more bees, more butterflies please.
Hollyhocks, foxgloves, poppy seeds.
More trees, more leaves, more flowers, more weeds.
Daisies, buttercups, dandelions please.
Life’s getting hotter and harder to deny.
The strain keeps showing as we wave good morning.
The winds are blowing as we whisper with a sigh.
The sky is glowing and we all know why.
Concrete drives and paving stones might add some value to your home
but it’s more fun to grow your own - let insects reap what you have sown.
Let the grass grow greener, let leaves leave our air cleaner.
Let pollinators pollinate, let the ecosystem regulate.
More birds, more bees, more butterflies please.
Hollyhocks, foxgloves, poppy seeds.
More trees, more leaves, more flowers, more weeds.
Daisies, buttercups, dandelions please.
This journey is a short one so there’s no need for a car.
Travel too far end up right back where you are.
The futures gonna happen of that we can be sure
and there’s another thing for certain - we could use some more
birds, more bees, more butterflies please.
Hollyhocks, foxgloves, poppy seeds.
More trees, more leaves, more flowers, more weeds.
Daisies, buttercups, dandelions please.
Money doesn’t grow on trees but blossom does and so do leaves.
We’ll pay the price for not believing if we don’t keep this planet breathing.
More birds, more bees, more butterflies please.
Hollyhocks, foxgloves, poppy seeds.
More trees, more leaves, more flowers, more weeds.
Daisies, buttercups, dandelions please.
More birds, more bees, more butterflies please.
Hollyhocks, foxgloves, poppy seeds.
More trees, more leaves, more flowers, more weeds.
Daisies, buttercups, dandelions please.

Follow me now, I’ll follow you -
take every single move you make and make it too.
I’ll hear what I say, speak like I feel.
You know that every time you say your love’s for real – then it’s real.
Follow me now, I’ll follow you there
so when we reach the end we’re not alone anywhere.
Telling the truth will not deceive.
Could it be easier to deny than to believe?
Blowing a kiss for things left behind.
I will return it back again to you as time.
Follow you now, follow your heart.
Follow me till the end is at the start.

There you go filling your boots,
skin so thin it’s like a birthday suit.
Letting your hair down, nothing to lose.
Wearing in your pretty pants.
There you go strutting your stuff.
Too much is never enough.
They call you blind and you call their bluff.
You look buff in your pretty pants.
More power to your elbows, power to your fists.
Shouting your pout to the power of a kiss
and telling and yelling, taking the risks.
All the more power to your pretty pants.
When the mood shifts down a gear to peeved
pull up your socks, roll up your sleeves.
Inspiration is the key
that turns the lock from misery to fun.
It’s begun and it’s your shout.
No doubt what it’s all about.
Don’t hang fire, cast your clout
but hold on tight to your pretty pants.
Age restrictions don’t apply.
Stop the clock - time of your life.
Turn the dials to sky high,
flying by the seat of your pretty pants.
If you’ve given up on heartache and dead flowers
and you’re sick of just walking round the houses.
If you’re trapped inside just ticking off the hours
go ask the jo jo man where he gets his trousers.
‘Cause timing’s of the essence, time’s the thrill.
No time like a present of time to fill.
Keep clocking the watch and make sure you’re still
prancing in your pretty pants.
No nightmare caking a make-up face.
Plain Jane fame is the dream you chase.
You know what you mean and no means just
getting out your pretty pants.
Keep wearing out your pretty pants.
Keep stepping out in your pretty pants.
Keep leaping about in your pretty pants - oh yeah
keep on dancing you pretty pants.

Good While It Lasted
04:27
|
|||
Here we are on a ship, we’re adrift, just going nowhere
on the high seas, you and me and neither of us swim.
But the life boats are in place and the cabin crew are here,
so let’s just believe we’re safe and breathe the air.
Well we’re here, on a plane in the air with the sea below us.
High, you and I, we’re quite scared ‘cause neither of us fly.
Birds of a feather don’t live forever
So what if we die together - what a way to go.
Well here we are on a train, border bound - there’s just the tunnel now
but it’s dark and it’s long and underneath the sea.
Nevermind we’re almost there - not too far till we unpack
then it’s two weeks till we have to think about the journey back.
Now here we are traveling far in this car we rented on the cheap
which might explain all the pain that we’re now going through.
Should have got the bus, far less fuss, just relax, enjoy the view
if you can shut out the noise of all the other passengers.
But there’s only so much you can do, so many places to go to,
so many pictures you can take, so many memories you can make
and though the travel bug once bit maybe it’s time for us to quit
and if we get the urge to roam we can time-travel from our home.
Well here we are back at the start, journey’s end - no need to go away again.
We’re happy here in our house - maybe we’ll go camping at weekends.
No regrets, we won’t forget all the places - all the new friends.
We travelled far but here we are - it was good while it lasted.
