It must be stage fright - I don’t like standing under lights,
I don’t like being looked at when I’m doing my thing.
Stage fright - maybe I can do alright
if I wear lots of make-up and hide behind my bling.

You see the thing is I’m self-conscious when I sing
and I sweat a lot - yes I sweat a lot.
You’ll find me throwing up, screwed up with nervous exhaustion
even before we’ve started, it’s really no distortion
this assertion I have stage fright - I think that I might just die.

Stage fright - I turn from green to white
and feel that I just might run out into the night
in the middle of a song, I’ve felt it all along,
it must be stage fright.

When it goes quiet in between the numbers,
I can feel the numbness creeping from my feet into my mouth
and all I want to do is shout get out you fool, you look a fool,
you sound a fool, you are a fool.
Whatever made you think that you could pull this thing off
standing on the stage - at your age.

It’s just no use - no matter how I try
if I look beyond my nose I get a blurring of my eyes.
And even though I write the lyrics all down carefully,
put them on a music stand and stand it right in front of me,
my mind goes blank, I cannot see a way out of this misery
and I know that being in a band just shouldn’t feel this bad - it’s so sad.

Stage fright - I don’t like standing under lights.
I don’t like being looked at when I’m doing my thing.
