about

One of six true tales...

lyrics

Lady Muck lived on the allotment down by the canal.
Raised a bed inside a shed - a little stove as well.
She had always lived this way,
digging deep and turning soil everyday.
An old wooden bench and a dog-eared book - that’s Lady Muck.

Lady Luck - Peggy to her family and her friends as well.
Maybe just a little bit eccentric - but as she’d say, to hell with that.
Who really cares what people think?
You would think that they’d have better things to do.
And as her new potatoes grew - she made them stew.

Once our Peggy’s gone we won’t get her back.
We won’t get her back once our Peggy’s gone.
We will be so sad, we will feel so bad.
Better make the best of what we have.

Peggy Luck loved the thorny problems - brambles, weeds and pests.
Quiet, unholy, never ever lonely, for the worst she knew the best.
She died of natural causes - or so they say,
turning over old leaves - she just fell one day.
Covered in compost and muck - that’s Lady Luck.

And it just goes to show you never really know
what’s waiting around the next corner
but if you play it right then you just might get what you’ve always wanted…

Peggy Luck never made it to the cemetery - though she was badly stricken.
Now she lies over six feet under - how the plot thickens.
She’d always wanted it this way.
Hoped that she’d be left in peace under her own clay.
She’d say - you can lead life just like a book with Lady Luck.

Now look at where she’s gone, we won’t get her back.
We won’t get her back - not from where she’s gone.
Now look at where she’s gone, we won’t get her back.
We won’t get her back - not from where she’s gone.

Now look at where she’s gone, we won’t get her back.
We won’t get her back - not from where she’s gone.
She’s buried underground where she wants to be
and on her stone it says don’t call me Lady - I’m Peggy.
