It’s quarter to four - said you’d be here at two.
I’ve been waiting one and three quarter hours for you.
Have you stood me up? (have you been stood up?)
Should I stand down? (should you stand down?)
I bet you’ll turn the corner just as soon as I turn round and walk away.
I need more coffee.
There’s a gap in the door that wasn’t there before
between the edge and the frame - it won’t ever close up tight again.
I’ve had lots of luck (most of it bad) - lots of love (most of it sad).
I wipe the window clean but I still can’t see through the pain to a new view.
I need more coffee.
You’ve a narcissistic need to choose to believe
that you won’t die - you just leave
but these self-inflicted wounds heavily bleed
and when all is said and done you’ll find a dead horse to flog
‘cause you’re a chin-wagging, goal hanging yellow-faced dog.
I need more coffee.
I need more coffee.
For sure I test for water (for sure she finds eyes empty).
Not one drop of briny (there used to be plenty).
If you want to see the edge of man silhouette his soul.
History pokes its way back through - stains and marks, visceral clues.
I need more coffee.
I need more coffee.
It begins with I and it ends with you.
There’s a lot to think about but that’s something you don’t do.
If I had just one wish I’d wish this wasn’t true.
You say cream rises to the top (sometimes it goes sour).
You say we’ve all the time in the world (then stay half an hour).
Sometimes I think you’re listening ‘cause your face goes all agog
but without doubt it always turns out you are just a
chin-wagging, big bragging, name-dragging,
line-dancing, double-chancing, yellow-faced dog.
I need more coffee.
I need more coffee.
