January’s fool steps out into the limelight. The first day of the year is always filled with fear and hope and love and good intention. February’s fool wraps up against the cold wind blows a hole where a heart used to be and now doesn’t even get a mention. March fools, April fools we are waiting out the winter. May’s fool is turning over new leaves hoping spring will bring some clear days, show new ways to be together. June fools, July fools we are regretting and forgetting to surrender. And while the seasons change we all just stay the same. Trying to take control again. Worried fools, worried fools we are, worried fools we are - time takes care of everything. August’s fool is holding on to sunshine, ignoring all the straight lines between us and the future. September’s fool is rushing headlong into something that just feels wrong and is nothing more than rumour. October fools, November fools we are and December’s too. And while the seasons change we all just stay the same, holding on in vain again. Worried fools, worried fools we are, worried fools we are - time takes care of everything. Take care of everything.

No Bother 02:55
Everybody’s doing the best that they can trying to find ways to help each other and not tread on each other’s fingers and toes. What someone else is going through no one knows. It’s no bother - look after each other. It pays to be cautious and take some time. It’s quite important not to undermine efforts of others trying to please. Unchecked selfishness is like a disease. It’s easy to hurt - it’s easy to be hurt too. We don’t seem to notice much now but we’ll notice it when it’s gone. The best we can do is somehow try to write it down in a song so everyone can sing along and we can hear you. We don’t seem to notice much now but we’ll notice it when it’s gone. It’s always best not to leave things too late. Memories are great as long as they last but they won’t last forever. There are so many things we don’t understand. We are just simple folks who play in a band. We have no message telling you what to do except look after yourself and others too. It’s should be no bother to look after each other. Look after yourselves - look after each other. Make sure you bother to bother to take care of each other.

I wish you could sing like Tracey Thorn with a voice so beautifully forlorn. Her picture adorns your walls, her words answer all your calls. You disappear with her without a care while I’m left here careworn wishing you could sing like Tracey Thorn. You’re everything but that girl. You play guitar and you fill my world with love and laughter and happy-ever-after stories but she doesn’t even know you’re born and your heart is being torn. How I wish you could sing like Tracey Thorn. You could be my marine girl – my float on a sea of green girl but you’’ll stay my has-been in love, you could never sing like she does. You could even change your name to hers but you’d still be the same girl because you could never sing like Tracey Thorn

All of our childhood crushes turned to adult blushes. Most of our teenage flirts turned out to be just perverts. What you’ve seen you can’t unseen. Things were never what they used to be. Stuart, Jimmy, Rolf, Gary. You left us no one to marry. You took away our childhood dreams. Turned playtime into disturbing scenes. Gonna be in your gang ‘cause you’re a real knockout. Can you tell us what it is yet - can you fix it for us now? You’ve made our innocent games seem spoiled. You’ve made us feel ashamed and soiled. Gary, Stuart, Jimmy, Rolf. You were our childhood Steppenwolf. You kept your dark side in good disguise, entertaining those that you despised. It doesn’t seem that long ago Sitting cross-legged watching every show. These were our TV times. These are the people who live in our minds. Jimmy, Rolf, Gary, Stuart. Once admired - and you knew it. You lived your lives of power and greed hiding behind childlike naievity. We still like to reminisce - it’s just nostalgia’s not what we used to think it was. Our jaded childhood memories are not as they should be. Our black and white TV showed your true colours eventually. Rolf, Gary, Stuart, Jimmy. You made your names by being silly. You had us queueing for your autographs doing unspeakables behind our backs.

We’re all sending out grapes and flowers to the world. We’re all sending out all best wishes to the world. We’re all sending out grapes and flowers to the world. We’re all sending out all best wishes to the world. We’re all sending out love and kisses to the world.

The Present 01:57
The present is an excellent way for someone to say, for someone to show how little they know about you. Still we try to buy the right design, the thing that chimes and rings true and tells the recipient I know you, I do. Then they re-wrap and they re-name or take it back and try to claim that they’ve lost the receipt. Yes we lost the receipt - we’re sure it came from here. Can we have a refund or make an exchange for something that we want? And they try and try but to no avail ‘cause what they don’t know is it was bought in a sale five years ago. Five years ago - all that time ago and five years ago it was such a bargain. Five years ago, five years ago - a long long time ago. Five years ago - before you even knew them. So much for the present
